Winged Pot

I put some legs on this little cylinder and then thought it needed feet.  Before long it had to have a tail, and then some wings!  I was actually going for rabbit type ears, maybe next time!

I'm Captivated by Gargoyles

This is my 2nd attempt to create a gargoyle.  Much smaller and a bit more menacing than the first, but still not quite what I had in mind.  I'll probably use an iron oxide stain rather than a glaze.  I left a small how in the back so he can hang around my studio!

Bloom Vase

I started this little forgotten bird many months ago and decided to make her into a vase for flowers.  I will have to decide what glaze use, I don't want to loose the carved details.  In the meantime, I enjoying looking at her as she gazes out at the snow. 

More Clay

Began by creating the basic shape, adding clay and smoothing.  I may put on a back so it can hang on the wall, but needs more work on the face.

 A friend from Asheville came over last week to play in my studio.  We're both inspired by gargoyles (The Biltmore House has many perched about) Here is what I have so far.

Thanksgiving revisited

Timing is everything!  These happy turkeys came strolling through our yard this morning, seemingly oblivious to the upcoming holiday.  Looks like I forgot to post this in November, better late than never.

What a lovely site to see this morning. I had to take this through the window, they spook so easily. What is it about crows that I find so enchanting?

My good friend Marion has encouraged me to get on the blog bus! I started this blog almost 2 years ago and didn't have much to say, so there it sat with one entry.

I've been enjoying exploring clay for the past year and began a series of handbuilding classes. Here is my favorite sculpture, I call it ... may crow shaman.
